Third Party Adservers

Third party ad serving means the advertiser is using an ad server to serve and track the ad unit.  The three parties are Pulpo Media, the advertiser and the 3rd party who serves the ad.

The PulpoMedia ad server delivers the requested impression to the Publisher’s site and tracks the ad unit. When a 3rd party is involved in ad serving, the Pulpo Media ad server redirects or forwards the ad call to the 3rd party ad server to deliver and track the ad unit.  This 3rd party redirect may point to an advertiser’s own system or a contracted company.

Tentaculos is compatible with all major ad serving platforms and most top tier media outlets including DoubleClick Dart, Mediaplex, Atlas, OpenX, Right Media, Zedo and more.

Submitting Flash Ads

In order to consistently serve Flash creative via Pulpo Media the following specifications should be adhered to when exporting the .swf file.  If Flash creative is designed to the following specifications then only the .swf is required for implementation into the platform.

Please follow the guidelines below when creating the Flash movie:

  • Creative should be developed in version 7 or lower. Until Flash 8 reaches higher saturation, Pulpo Media recommends Flash creative be exported in Flash 7 format.
  • Pulpo Media recommends multiple load movie events not be used at this time (unless prior arrangements are made with the service team).
  • The clickTAG variable must be set to function in the the main timeline.
  • The button action should be: getURL (_root.clickTAG, "_blank");
  • “clickTAG” is case sensitive.

Submit the following to Pulpo Media:

  • The .swf file.
  • An alternate .gif or jpeg image.
  • A list of click-through URLs/landing page URLs.
  • If a third party impression tracking pixel is required please include that as well. We only accept IMG tracking pixels.

When shipping multiple Flash movies please include all materials in a .zip file.  If the .swf file needs to be coded for multiple clicks please contact your Pulpo Media contact directly.
